Weekly Update 1.5: Let's Get Standardized

Hey, let's try this again. But this is more of an updatelette. It's a smaller update, with only half the calories!

Whoa, What Just Happened?

In case you're wondering why the plot jumped from the desert in the Duel Monsters Spirit World all the way ahead to Maiami City, there's a very good reason! The desert was gettin' sorta boring and Maiami City is cool and lets everybody start getting involved. So we skipped ahead a bit. Will we ever go back and play out that Spirit World stuff? Maybe! But in the meantime, there is a summary of how the events of the rest of Episode 2 went, in case you ever need any sorta reference.

Set the Standard:

Now, we've got our first post in Standard and our first open post. It's been going for a while now and a couple days ago, I replied to it with this, Yuya's first Pendulum Summon. This is open for reactions from everybody as of right now, so if you wanna reply to it, go for it. Don't worry about profiles or whatever right now, we're kinda past that at this point - just jump in. There's an open thread for LDS, courtesy of Nick, so if you have an LDS character, feel free to jump on that or start your own thread.

As for what's up next...

In this post, pretty soon, we're probably gonna move on to the next day and the Pendulum Summon demo at You Show! Duel School and the disaster that is. As it is right now, I have a rough idea for how this can go.

1) It pretty much proceeds as it does in canon, with Yuya dueling Yuzu and Yuya failing to recall how to Pendulum Summon.
2) Sly, sensing an opportunity with everybody there, goads Rua into challenging Yuya himself. Rua goes for it and Yuya accepts, wanting to try Pendulum Summoning again.
3) Rua Synchro Summons Power Tool Dragon and again, Yuya can't Pendulum Summon, so Rua beats him about as hard as Yuzu did.
4) Everybody sees Rua's Synchro Summons and when he says he didn't learn it at LDS, it becomes a bit of a big deal, as LDS is the only school that knows Synchro.
5) At that point, Yuya shows everybody the Pendulum Cards and everybody calls him a cheater and bails. Sly wants to bail too and go use the fact that Synchro Summoning is rare here to get more money by street dueling. Rua, Ruka and Isabel decided to stick behind at You Show (perhaps by an imaginary Jack going "ENTERTAAAAAAAAAAAAINMENT" in their heads). They, Yuzu and Gongenzaka help Yuya figure out how to Pendulum Summon. Sly's like "whatever" and bails.
6) Meanwhile, Reiji is doing smug asshole things, having detected both the Pendulum Summon and the Synchro Summons. He contacts Sawatari and asks him to get the Pendulum Cards.

And that's about the gist of what I had in mind for the rest of the episode! If you have any ideas of your own, any way to tweak it, lemme know. It's also worth wondering what we wanna do for Episode 4, if we wanna play out Yuya vs. Sawatari, change it at all, handwave it, etc. If you have any thoughts for that, share those too!

Machina Mayhem!:

Yeah, the machines aren't done. Soon enough they're gonna start popping up in Standard and making a nuisance that our crew from the 5D's world is gonna have to deal with. If you have any desire to play a Machine-type, sound off. They're gonna start off weak, but eventually, they'll be getting tougher and necessitating our heroes get some...outside help to keep them contained.

In America, First You Get The Card Games, Then You Get The Power, Then You Get The Women:

One last thing. I wanted to have this a little more fully realized before I showed it off, but, I'm kind of getting tired of sitting on it, so, I'm just gonna show you guys what I have right now. Keep in mind, this is a very, very rough draft, but if you think it's something you'd like to see more of, let me know.

Now with my interminable babbling out of the way, here's the link. And with that, I'll be signing off until the next update.

Karakuri! Specifically, I'd like to throw around Karakuri Watchdog mdl 313 "Saizan" and Karakuri Soldier mdl 236 "Nisamu." They both very simple-minded, straightfoward units that can be directed to do whatever... but only one thing at a time. And very unreliably, in the case of watchpup.
